I am very excited to finally have a chance to sit down and blog about the newly opened, Pizzeria Barbarella by Terry. I ate here about a week ago and can’t stop thinking about this hell of a pizza. I came content, intending to nibble on a slice and take the rest home but I ended up finishing my whole personal sized pizza by myself than I still managed to shove the best dessert I had in a long time into my tightly stretched stomach. Even as I upload my photos a week later, my mouth still swims in fresh drool as I ponder back on my experience. Before I go into details, let me just make this message very clear: THIS WAS PLACE IS THE HOME OF THE BEST PIZZA IN TOWN!!!
To start off my date and I had the house salad, which consisted of mixed greens and cherry tomatoes with a balsamic dressing. The balsamic dressing was extremely well balance - not overpowering in vinegar.
Than out came the star of the show: our diavola (spicy salami&olives) and amatriciana (house smoked pancetta, red onions, garlice&chili flakes) pizzas were presented in front of us on simple pizza pans. Within a split seconded both of us had our hands and faces smeared with red sauce and cheeses, chomping away happily on authentic thin crust pizza. I encourage dearly to all my readers to give this place a try and some support. This is some seriously good stuff and the word needs to be spread across town!
I honestly thought things couldn’t get any better but after our empty plates got whipped away, Terry (the owner) arrived shortly setting down some Banoffee pie stating, “you have got to try this”. Holy-mothers is all I can say. I do not have a sweet tooth as ya’ll know but this dessert was perfectly balanced in sweetness. Banoffee pie as I discovered is a coco-coffee pie crust baked with a layer of bananas held in place with toffee and topped with thick whipped cream, than finished with a dusting of either coco or coffee. I didn’t get a chance to snap a better photo or figure out exactly what was in it because I was too busy racing to eat it with my dining partner, Donnie. As you can clearly see from the photo before I even had the chance to snap a proper photo he had already began digging in. HA!
I had a chance to chat with Terry and hear about his amazingly unique oven. This is someone clearly passionate about doing things right when it comes to pizza and it clearly shows in the quality of his food.
